GIVE is a little different than tipping, even though you can use it on Farcaster similarly to Degen. Here’s what it is:

Who are the ones you admire and would like collaborate with someday?
Who are the one you appreciate for the things they build, stands they take, and memes they meme?
GIVE is a way to vouch for and appreciate people and their value, onchain.
Right now there is a lot of tipping happening. People are giving out (and asking for) degen left and right to bootstrap engagement and participation on Farcaster. Degen are extremely fungible, and tipping represents everything from deep respect to mild amusement.
We like the tips, but created GIVE as way to vouch onchain. When you GIVE, you are making a distinct claim that someone has added value to our ecosystem. This is not a tip, but an endorsement.
They’re just as easy to hand out, but there are 3 things that make GIVE special:
Everyone has a limited number of GIVE. They recharge over time, but the idea is to share them with people you think really matter. They are easy to hand out, but mean much more than a high five.
When you send and receive GIVE it creates an onchain record of your social graph. You can see people who vouched for you and who you’ve vouched for. Over time this creates a rich data set of your skills and connections, like LinkedIn but without the cringe.
GIVEs can be associated with skills you designate them for when you give them, they can be associated with orgs using Coordinape Gift Circles, and in the future they can be boosted depending on the reputation of who gave them. We’re in an MVP state now, but we’re bullish on the value of rich attestation networks where context is readable, trustable and re-usable.
